Description
The Data Consultant is a practitioner in the Geospatial industry specializing in geospatial data modeling, analysis, migration, and transformation. The Geospatial Data Consultant must be able to interpret captured requirements into the necessary data solutions and the creation of project deliverables. The Data Consultant works with a project team and clients to design, develop, test, and implement spatial and non-spatial enterprise databases structures for productive and efficient systems. Additionally, they develop technical design specifications and perform data migration tasks from legacy systems to newly implemented systems. The Data Consultant also oversees the day-to-day administration of enterprise geodatabases on project and internal work.
Essential Functions
- Provide database and data modeling expertise, including spatial data.
- Stay current on GIS, data modeling and management software, and changes in the industry.
- Communicate data related concepts clearly to teammates and clients in writing and diagrams.
- Perform data related requirements and create project deliverables:
- Database design including development of Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD)
- Data quality assessments
- Data migration plans
- Design documentation (data related portions)
- Data acceptance testing
- Database code solutions (PL/SQL, Transact-SQL, etc.)
- Establish and maintain data environments for projects, custom software development, and product development efforts.
- Leverage SQL for data manipulation, query, analysis, and report.
- Maintain professional client relationships.
- Provide clear and frequent communication with the project managers on the status of project deliverables.
- Work closely with other Data Consultant and Geospatial Analysts to share ideas and assist with other similar ongoing projects.
- Maintain knowledge of Rizing Geospatial’s professional services offerings and products.
- Help identify opportunities for ongoing project opportunities during assigned project work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, GIS, Information Systems or a related discipline.
- Two (2) years of data modeling, analysis, or management software experience (related graduate level coursework can be substituted for up to one year of experience).
- One (1) year of experience managing a RDBMS environment(s).
- Experience with and/or knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle.
- Experience with Esri ArcSDE/Geodatabase replication, versioning, synchronization.
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of Linear Referencing Systems (LRS).
- Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Experience with and/or knowledge of SAP/HANA.
