Description
The Senior Data Consultant is an advanced practitioner in the geospatial industry specializing in geospatial data modeling, analysis, migration, and transformation. The Senior Data Consultant must be able to interpret captured requirements into the necessary data solutions and lead in the creation of project deliverables. The Senior Data Consultant works with or leads a technical project team and clients to design, develop, test, and implement spatial and non-spatial enterprise databases structures for productive and efficient systems. Additionally, they develop technical design specifications and perform data migration tasks from legacy systems to newly implemented systems. The Senior Data Consultant also oversees the day-to-day administration of enterprise geodatabases on project and internal work.
Essential Functions
- Provide advanced database and data modeling expertise, including spatial data.
- Stay current on GIS, data modeling and management software, and changes in the industry.
- Communicate data related concepts clearly to teammates and clients in writing and diagrams.
- Perform or lead teams in the creation of data related requirements and project deliverables:
- Database design including development of Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD)
- Data quality assessments
- Data migration plans
- Design documentation (data related portions)
- Data acceptance testing
- Database code solutions (PL/SQL, Transact-SQL, etc.)
- Establish and maintain data environments for projects, custom software development, and product development efforts.
- Leverage SQL for advanced data manipulation, query, analysis, and report.
- Maintain professional client relationships.
- Provide clear and frequent communication with the project managers on the status of project deliverables.
- Work closely with other Data Analysts and Geospatial Analysts to share ideas, assist with other similar ongoing projects, and lead technical discussions and innovation.
- Maintain knowledge of Rizing Geospatial’s professional services offerings and products.
- Help identify opportunities for ongoing project opportunities during assigned project work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, GIS, Information Systems or a related discipline.
- Seven (7) years of data modeling, analysis, or management software experience (related graduate level coursework can be substituted for up to one year of experience).
- Three (3) years of experience managing a RDBMS environment(s).
- Advanced experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle.
- Advanced experience with Esri ArcSDE/Geodatabase replication, versioning, synchronization.
- Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- DBA- Standard Enterprise and Geodatabases
- Relational database data modelling
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with and/or knowledge of SAP HANA.
- Knowledge of FME
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise
- Knowledge of ESRI Roads and Highways
- Knowledge of Linear referencing Data
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Technical expertise with enterprise database software (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, SAP4/HANA).
- Ability to design, develop and troubleshoot Extract, Transform, Load, (ETL) tools and processes.
- Advanced utilization database modeling software (e.g., Erwin, ER/Studio, Sparx Enterprise Architect).
- Advanced development of Structured Query Language (SQL) queries, ETL processes, and Transact-SQL (T-SQL) stored procedures to support data validation, manipulation, and/or preparation of enterprise Geospatial databases.
- Advanced knowledge of how to design processes, create procedures, and implement database indexing methods to optimize database performance.
- Advanced ability to create and administer multiple enterprise databases/geodatabases on multiple platforms. This includes overseeing the planning and licensing of various database instances for the geospatial team and their ongoing projects.
- Advanced skill with database importing, exporting, snapshots, and backups.
- Advanced skill in performing data mining on databases to discover geospatial, temporal and other types of patterns or trends.
- Knowledge of Linear Referencing Systems (LRS), dynamic segmentation, and other geospatial concepts.
- Ability to attentively listen and effectively communicate ideas and processes, in oral and written format, with clients and other consultants.
- Ability to assist clients with assessing existing systems and optimize their solutions using existing knowledge of system functionality and best practice recommendations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a virtual project team or lead a virtual project team.
- Ability to work independently and provide data team supervision.
- Ability to think logically and in abstract to develop and recommend solutions.
- Ability to develop and present new ideas to conceptualize new approaches and solutions.
